Lesson Dino vs Twinkl: ready-made resources or a lesson made for you?

Twinkl is a huge library of ready-made resources. Lesson Dino makes a new lesson for your exact topic. Here's when each one is the better fit.

The short answer

  • Choose Twinkl if you want resources that people have made and checked, for common topics in your curriculum, and you're happy to search a library for them.
  • Choose Lesson Dino if you want a new lesson made for your exact topic, year group and country, with the plan, slides, worksheet and videos made together.

What Twinkl is

Twinkl is a large online library of teaching resources made by teachers: worksheets, slides, display materials, planning and more, organised by curriculum. It's used by teachers and schools in many countries.

You can sign up for a free account with some free resources. Paid memberships (Core, Extra and Ultimate) unlock more of the library. Twinkl has also added AI tools, including an AI assistant called Ari and an AI lesson planner.

What Twinkl does well

  • A huge library. For most common topics there are many resources to choose from.
  • Made by people. Twinkl describes its resources as teacher-made.
  • Matched to curricula. Resources are organised by country, curriculum and year group.

What Lesson Dino does differently

A library can only give you what someone has already made. Lesson Dino makes the lesson you need, for the topic you're teaching, at the moment you need it.

  • Any topic, any angle. Teaching a local topic, a new idea, or a familiar topic from an unusual angle? Type it, and Lesson Dino makes the lesson.
  • Everything matches. Nine lesson ideas, a timed plan, video clips, slides and a printable worksheet, all from the same topic and the same facts.
  • Sources first. It looks the topic up before it writes, including your country's curriculum documents where it can find them, and numbers every source.
  • Made for your class. Change any slide or task, or ask the AI to make it easier, harder or about football. Earlier versions are kept.
  • Your school's look. Slides come in 80 designs or your school's own PowerPoint template.

Questions teachers ask

Is Lesson Dino a free Twinkl alternative?

Lesson Dino is free while it's in beta. Join the beta with your email address and we will send you an invite. Our prices will be published on the pricing page soon.

Can I use Lesson Dino and Twinkl together?

Yes. Many teachers will use a library like Twinkl for well-tested resources on common topics, and Lesson Dino for topics, ages or angles a library doesn't cover.

Are Lesson Dino's resources checked by teachers?

No. Lesson Dino makes them with AI, from sources it lists, and checks maths answers with code. You check the result before you teach it, as you would any new resource.
